She wants tone
Neanderthals may have ruled your college campus, but in the real world, women prefer muscle tone over muscle mass, according to a new UCLA study. When 141 women evaluated photos of shirtless men, they ranked athletic-looking bodies (lean and defined) as more desirable than both muscular and skinny types. Study author David Frederick Ph.D.(c), says that women perceive men with big muscles as threatening and also know that it takes time to build all that beef - time you might not spend with them. "They're looking for signs of not only health and fitness but also a potential commitment," Frederick says.

The Goal
The goal is to go from Average Joe to Built Jim. But what exactly do I mean by that? I don't mean like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. That's Too Big. I'm looking for something closer to a Tyler Durden (The Edward Norton/Brad Pitt Character) from Fight Club. You know lean Muscle Mass. Muscular. Low body fat percentage and a weight roughly of 205lbs.
You might be asking, "What do you exactly mean by body fat percentage?" Well I don't know yet. I am going to get my body fat percentage measured and set a goal for that as well. That way I will have a much more accurate goal of weight and body fat percentage.
The Reason
In order to achieve any goal, one must have worthy and rooted reasons to achieve it. Otherwise the goal won't be worth the cost. Saying, "Because I feel like it" doesn't always create the best results. Here are a few of my reasons for doing it:
1. I always wanted to be built.
2. I love that feeling of having used muscles the day after working out. I love that shaking feeling as you get closer to your last failing rep, when your muscles go "No MORE!!!!"
3. Girls go gaga over it.
4. Confidence.
5. General Health.
6. Confidence.
7. Did I say Girls?
8. Better at sports. Longer Drives on the golf course.
9. Studies have shown that height and fitness greatly influence the amount of your success at work. While I can't really do much about height. I am what I am. Fitness is in my complete control.
My goal and my reason is good to get me started, however I need to fill the picture out a bit more, it's a bit foggy still. However, as I travel down this road to a Fight Club Physique and I learn my vision will become clearer as to what exactly I want and why I want it.

The Beginning
This blog is built for one reason. To Grow. Literally.
The United States is always focussed on diet this and diet that. Well that is not what this site is about. Or at least not about losing weight. It's about gaining weight. You just don't find that sort of thing talked about much. Of course there are the Muscle Magazines with what I like to call the extreme body builders. That doesn't interest me either. I looks extremely unhealthy, unnatural, and in my opinion an extremely unattractive state to be in.
This is a site for Average Joe's. The guys who are average. Skinny even. Not fat and also not fit. We're going to learn how to go from chump to champ. Or to go from our normal skinny, not fat, but not fit, state to fit, strong, built.
Why? That is who I currently am. A 6'2" Average Joe. I weigh in at roughly 175lbs, give or take a few pizzas and sodas now and again. I'm going to be the guinea pig. I'm going to search high and low for the tips, techniques, and theories. What works for me, I'll pass on to you. What doesn't work for me, I'll pass on to you as well. I'll just tell you why it didn't work for me.
We'll track my progress. My highs. My lows. My pain and my strength. So game on. Goodbye Average Colin. Hello Built Colin.
